Getting Started - A Guide to Revelation

Client Features

The first thing to become familiar with is the Game Client you will play Revelation through. The Client is divided up into several parts which shows all your spells, skills, stats, targets, and vitals.

Character Vitals

The Character Vitals is in the top left corner of the client and contain the bars for your life, mana, and experience. If your life reaches 0 and the bar empties, you will die. If you decide to play a spellcasting class, mana is needed to cast your spells. Not having enough mana will prevent you from being able to cast spells. The final bar is your experience bar. When the bar reaches 100% and full, it means you can level up and gain more stats and abilities.

Character Statistics

Under the Vitals, is your Character Statistics. Almost everything you could want to know about your character appears here. It displays how much experience you need to level up, your various stats, weapon damage, evasions, defense, resistances, and gold on hand.

There are several buttons atop the Character Statistics. Guild shows the various factions you have encountered and your standing with them. If a faction is too low, they will attack you on sight. Effects shows all the current spell effects and their remaining durations that you are afflicted with.

Movement

The movement buttons allow you to move around the game. In most places, the color of a direction will be grayed out, and means that you won't be able to move in that particular direction. It is great for knowing where you can and cannot go, but for actual movement, most players use the arrow keys on their keyboard.

Hotkey Actions Bank

The Actions Bank in the lower left corner allows you to use the existing macros in the Default bank for examining, picking up items, viewing your inventory, attacking, and leveling up. In the other 3 action banks, labeled 1 through 3, you can assign hotkeys with macros to use your favorite spells, skills or other things. You can right click on an empty hotkey bank to edit that hotkey.

Spell Bar

The spell bar at the top of the client shows all the spells you are currently affected by. Spells with positive effects will have a green border, while spells with negative effects will have a red border. By moving your mouse over each of the icons, you can see the spell effects and remaining duration of the spell. When the spell is close to wearing off (last 15 seconds), it will start blinking to get your attention.

Game Display

The center of the client contains the game display, which is where you will come to know Revelation and what is in it. Every step you take towards a new destination shows up there, as well as your battles and conversations with other characters.

Input Area

Below the game display is the Input Bar. This is where you will type a few commands as well as send messages and interact with quests. Most of the commands you will use (some very rarely), can be found by typing /cmdlist and hitting [Enter]. The buttons right above the input bar allow you to change the default channel to send messages to. This is covered more in Communicating.

Game Map

The game map is the visual representation of where you are in Kaldana. It appears in the top right corner of the client. Above the graphical map is the name of the area you are currently in. As you explore, you will come to learn where areas connect to other areas, which will allow you to use the game map to travel around rather easily.

Room Targets

Anything that can be interacted with in Revelation, is usually targetable. Thus, the Room Target box is one of the most important parts of the client. You can right click targets to view a pop up menu of ways you can interact with that target. You can use the keyboard to select targets by holding [Ctrl] and hitting the corresponding number key that appears next to the target's name. [Ctrl]+[1] will select the first target on the list.

Spell & Skill List

All your skills and spells that you learn as you level appear in the Spell and Skill list. Active skills, like Meditation, will have a [Ready] or [Wait] next to them. You have to use these skills (double-click) in order to gain their effects. All the other skills are passive and you gain their bonuses automatically. By clicking the [Spells] button, you can view a list of any spells you have. Right click the spell to view its spell information, or double-click the spell to cast it. Some spells require you to select a target, while others will cast without a target. To view the skill list again, just click the [Skills] button.

Other Parts

In the lower right are three more buttons. Clicking [Mail] will bring up the Revelation Mail System. You can send messages to other players, even if they are not online at the time. The Inbox has a maximum capacity of 25 messages though.

The [Options] button allows you to make a custom spell list from your existing spells, enable logging, and change the way the client displays information.

The final button is [Log Out]. It will allow you to exit the game. There is a delay if you try to exit while in combat, but once your character has logged off, all progress is automatically saved for the next time you log on.
