In-Game Guidelines and Rules

By playing and using Revelation, you agree to all the rules, guidelines and policies below.

Disclaimer
Administrator Decisions are Final. Constant badgering could result with a squelch and/or jailing. Not all punishments will result in warnings and it is up to the discretion of the Administrator handling the situation. Interpretation is broad enough to handle a large array of situations. If you have any discrepancies, feel free to send a Forum Message to Vasudeva, Thrain, Anubis, Kamaara or Stalwart. New Rules may be added as needed without prior notice. As always, decisions are up to the discretion of the Administrators.

Offenses & Repeat Offenses
First time Offenders will get the punishment corresponding to their offense.

Repeat Offenders will have their punishment increased dramatically in severity.

Squelch
Squelch is removing the ability for a character to broadcast, tell, send mail, auction, create characters and other limitations.

The least severe time frame for a squelch punishment begins at a verbal Warning from an administrator. If the offense is repeated, it will move up the scale of punishment for each similar offense within the last 6 months.

Code: Select all
Level 1   Level 2   Level 3   Level 4   Level 5   Level 6   Level 7
Warning   1 Hour    1 Day     3 Days    7 Days    14 Days   Level 1 Jail

Attempting to get around the squelch will result in jail time (equal to the length of the squelch) for each character. If the offense is continued from another alt, it will result in the same escalated punishment passed on to that character.

Jail
The least severe time frame for a jail punishment is 1 Day. If the offense is repeated, it will move up the scale of punishment for each similar offense within the last 6 months.

Code: Select all
Level 1   Level 2   Level 3   Level 4   Level 5
1 Day     3 Days    7 Days    14 Days   Character Banned

If the offense is continued from another alt, it will result in the same escalated punishment passed on to that character. Jailed characters are considered locked down and will not be accessible to other players for equipment, gold or anything else.

Community Damage Fine
This fine can be from 50,000 gold to several million depending on the offense. Community Damage Fines are dealt on offenses that affect the attitude in the game. Especially those offenses which result in material gain for the player.

If a Character has a Community Damage Fine, the character will be jailed until:
1. The amount of jail time has passed.
2. The fine is paid. If the fine is not paid, the character cannot be released.

Our goal is to make Revelation a fun and exciting place for everyone. Your cooperation and following these rules and guidelines can help to make it that way.

Character Trading & Character Security

Postby Kam » Wed Jul 16, 2008 1:32 am

Character Trading

Trading is not encouraged, and it is not endorsed in any way. The trade script has been removed permanently.

Primary Rules:

1. Do not talk about character trading in any public channel.
That means do not mention it in broadcast, (or any game channel) or on the forums.

2. Do not ask people to trade their character.
Any behavior of this sort will result in swift and harsh punishment.

3. Do not ask for help in any form from administrators having to deal with some sort of character trade deal.
We will give no guarantees, no reimbursements, and no advice.

4. Do not ask others to level your characters for you.
This means in any channel in the game or on the forums.

Character Theft Policy

The administration is not liable in any shape or form for stolen goods. We will no longer help in the recovery of these items, and asking staff for help in these matters is forbidden. The risks one takes in character sharing/trading are high, so the best solution is to not share or trade. Note: If you share you are doing so at your own risk; we will not help you regain your items that are taken because of character sharing.

****NEW****Although we will not reimburse a person, we WILL punish the thief in matters of theft, whether it is character OR item. The amount/type of punishment will be dealt with on a case-to-case basis, as there will be different determining factors in each case.

Any attempts to wrongly accuse a person of stealing will also be dealt with swiftly and harshly. If you have a complaint, have as much evidence as possible for the theft before contacting an admin.

Note: Administration reserves the right to inflict heavy community damages on any perpetrators who steal, cheat, or delete other people's characters. If you take such actions, we do not want you in the game.

Security Recommendations:

• Do not share or trade your characters, their passwords, master passwords, equipment (et cetera) unless you are prepared to lose them.

• Change your passwords regularly.

• Clear the client.ini file located where the game client is found if you play on public computers or create a new character after logging off to insure that the password to your character is cleared.

Content in Public Chat Channels

Postby Kam » Wed Jul 16, 2008 1:38 am

Content in Public Chat Channels

Note: Public channels are: say, broadcast, guild, and group channels. If something is not appropriate for these channels, please use tells.
Note: Players are advised to use the /ignore command to ignore players they do not wish to speak to or hear from.
Note: Judgment on all Channel Content is up to the presiding Administrator who is on duty. Judgments may be different because administrators are different people. The offenses that could be more questionable have been given a lower punishment to take into account that administrators are different. If this is questionable in your offense, please contact Stalwart, Anubis, Thrain, or Kamaara in the game or via Private Message on the forums.
Note: All Jail times resulting from violations in chat will also include the same duration matching Squelch.

1. Blatant Promotion of Online Games or Web Sites.
Level 0 Squelching.

2. Obscenity or Vulgar Content.
Obscenities, Vulgar Content are categorized as vulgar words, cursing, sexual content, illicit drugs or prescriptions, or any type of conversation that may be outside the confines of the law, or constitute breaking of the Terms of Service.
Note: The profanity filter is there in case of slip ups, not as a babysitter. Those who do consistently use Obscenities will be squelched despite the profanity filter.
Level 0 Squelching.

3. Offensive Debates, Mild Spam or Extreme Obscenities
Offensive debates will usually be asked to be taken to a private channel (tells). Failure to do that will result in an offense.
Mild spam can be categorized as using excessive Capital letters in a public channel like "SOMEONE SELL ME DAGGER PLZ". Please turn caps lock off when playing Revelation.
Extreme Obscenities are similar to regular obscenities except they are directed explicitly at another player or group.
Level 1 Squelching.

4. Harassment / Abusive Argument.
This especially includes any harassment based on gender, ethnicity, religion, etc. This includes all those who join in the harassment or argument in a blanket effect of all who were involved.
Level 4 Squelching and possible Community Damage Fine.

5. Spamming/Flooding/Bypassing Ignore.
Level 4 Squelching and Community Damage Fine.

6. Impersonating an Administrator or other Player.
Level 3 Jailing and/or deletion of infringing character, Community Damage Fine.

Player Killing Rules & Guidelines

Postby Kam » Wed Jul 16, 2008 1:39 am

Player Killing Rules & Guidelines

1. Overkilling.
Rampant killing of as many non warring players as possible within a short amount of time. The PK system was meant as a system to handle disputes not to harass players in the game. (One player harassing several characters.)
Note: Any low level character under level 60 caught with negative prestige/constant aggressor status by player killing lower levels can be subject an to immediate Level 5 Jailing (Suspension).

Note: The condition and timing of overkilling is left up to the judgment of the administrator on duty.

Level 1 Jailing and Community Damage Fine.

2. Chainkilling.
Killing of a person multiple times across players and their alts. (One player harassing one player.)
Level 3 Jailing and Community Damage Fine.

3. Blatant disregard for Prestige loss.
This also includes a guild member killing other players who they are not warring.
Level 3 Jailing

4. Acts of Attrition and Harassment.
Maliciously disrupting a player's ability to play the game.
Example: Continually injuring/impeding but not killing, so as to impede their ability to play the game with necessarily killing them.
Level 4 Jailing.

Note: We try to protect low levels who are leveling up as best as we are able with more and more PvP becoming available at higher levels and through guilds for those inclined to PvP. We will not tolerate PvP'ers who use the PvP system to cause grief, harass, or otherwise impede another's ability to play the game.
